YouTubesday… Time Travler’s Wife Trailer

Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009

I loved Audrey Niffenegger’s The Time Traveler’s Wife. I think it is a fantastic sci-fi love story. So naturally I was looking forward to the movie adaptation, praying that they don’t screw it up.

Sadly, I think they screwed it up. At least Niffenegger’s new book Her Fearful Symmetry comes out in September.

YouTubesday… The Striking Viking Story Pirates

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

The Striking Viking Story Pirates are noteworthy for the following reasons:
1) They are pirates
2) They are a rag-tag band of people that “adapt and perform stories written by kids as a way of celebrating the words and ideas of young people, to promote literacy as a vital part of early childhood education, and to preserve the spark of youthful creativity often lost in the transition to adulthood.” (copy-and-pasted from their site)

A classic. Possibility Robin William’s last good film?

YouTubesday… Tales of Monkey Island

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

I am a big fan of Lucasart’s Monkey Island games. I have been waiting for the 5th game in the series ever since it was teased in the 4th game. There were times when I thought it would never happen. Luckily, at this weeks E3, Telltale Games announce that they are going to be releasing monthly episodes this summer.

This is possibly the best video game involving pirates.

YouTubesday… How PODs are made

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

Ignoring the fact that this is a blatant commercial, it is kind of neat to seat how a print on demand book is made.

YouTubesday… The Time Machine!

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Can I assume that we all know I am a big fan of the Choose Your Own Adventure books? Great. I stumbled across this Youtube video that is like a CYOA book but in Youtube form. You watch the clip and at the end you make a choice, etc, etc.

YouTubesday… Scott Pilgram

Tuesday, April 21st, 2009

Edgar Wright (director of the films Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead) is currently working on the movie adaption of the Scott Pilgrim comic books. The books are awesome and I hope the Michael Cera doesn’t ruin the film.

General Stuff
Since January 2008 I have been using this blog to write about the books i've read and other book related news that I find interesting. I also find pirates interesting so from time to time I may blog about pirates. I see this as killing two birds with one stone.

Review Policy
Dear Publishers/Authors,

I am always willing to discuss reviewing you book on my blog. Discovering new authors is one of the things I love about book blogging. However, I do not accept all books for review. If it's not in my usual genre chances are I am going to decline the offer.

A couple of genres I dislike are: Self-Help, YA Paranormal, Hardcore Science-Fiction, and Depressing Memoirs.

Some genres I really enjoy: Pirates, Satire, Pulp Fiction, Queer Fiction, YA Fiction (Non-Paranormal and Non-Gossip Girl-esq) and Comical Memoirs.

Here's the thing. If you e-mail me asking me to review a book, I will always respond and let you know if I am interested or not. If you don't hear back from me, feel free to send a follow-up e-mail. No longer will I just ignore your e-mail.
