Reading Habits

Do you snack while you read? If so, favorite reading snack?
No. I would be too worrying about getting the pages of my book dirty.
Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
It horrifies me. If I need to write something down, I will write it down in my moleskin and make a note of what book and page whatever it is I have written refers to.
How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
Bookmarks. These consist of any random piece of paper I have near me when I need one. Past bookmarks include: bills, 3×5 cards, a dollar, and an actual bookmark.
Fiction, Non-fiction, or both?
Fiction with the occasional memoir.
Hard copy or audiobooks?
Hard copy. Audiobooks I think are only good on road trips when you are the person driving.
Are you a person who tends to read to the end of chapters, or are you able to put a book down at any point?
Ideally I would wait until the end of the chapter. It really depends on the book though.
If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop to look it up right away?
Nah. I try to figure out what it means through the context that it is used. If I can’t then I just continue reading.
What are you currently reading?
Currently re-reading The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.
What is the last book you bought?
The Great Gatsby.
Are you the type of person that only reads one book at a time or can you read more than one at a time?
I can read more than one at a time although I try to never be reading more than three books at any given moment.
Do you have a favorite time of day and/or place to read?
Early afternoon in the park. Or my balcony.
Do you prefer series books or stand alone books?
Stand alone books.
Is there a specific book or author that you find yourself recommending over and over?
So far my most recommended book is I Am Not Myself These Days by Josh Kilmer-Purcell. I think I have purchased about ten copies of that book so far and given them to people claiming that they must read it.
How do you organize your books? (By genre, title, author’s last name, etc.?)
Wherever there is an empty spot on my shelves. In that past I had books grouped by genre, but I ran out of room.
